Arc de Triomphe Paris: skip the queue

Visit one of the most memorable monuments in Paris, the Arc de Triomphe and go to the top without having to queue!

The Arc de Triomphe is a neoclassical version of the old roman Arc de Triomphe. The views from the top, 50 meters high, are well worth the climb. You can appreciate each Parisian avenue that makes up the city of lights.

Inspired by the great arches of ancient Rome, Napoleon had the Arc de Triomphe built shortly after his victory at Austerlitz. Unfortunately, he did not live to see it finished. It took 30 years to design and build the elaborate sculpture. Each of the four ornate pillars is engraved with the names of the 128 battles and the 558 generals.

At the base of the arch lies the tomb of the unidentified soldier which acts as a tribute to the millions of French soldiers who died in World War 1. The unidentified soldier had his funeral in 1921 under the eternal flame that returns to light every day at 18:30.

An exposition explains the symbolic importance of the monument. Don´t forget to visit it…

It is certainly worth climbing up the 284 steps. From 50 metres high you can admire the whole of Paris. An alternative to the mandatory visit to Eiffel Tower, going up the Arc de Triopmhe is a trip not every tourist chooses to make. Also, with this skip the queue ticket, you´ll have practically no one in your way.

Although on your way towards the Arc you may be tempted to cross at the roundabout with all the Parisian traffic, don´t do it! Make sure you use the Triomphe tunnels which are connected by stairs on the northern part of The Champs Elysees.
